Pope Francis RIP

Pope Francis 1936 – 2025

It is with great sadness that we commemorate the loss of Pope Francis after leading the Catholic Church for over 12 years.

The first non-European Pope in 1,300 years, he was also the first to take the name Francis, from Francis of Assisi who devoted his life to poverty and peace.

Pope Francis lived a modest life of simplicity leaving a legacy of speaking for the marginalised and the poor, and a commitment to peace and justice for all.

“Like the Lord, when the poor cried, Pope Francis heard them. But as the Lord Jesus taught us, it is not enough just to hear these cries, we must commit ourselves to responding to them too. That is exactly what Pope Francis did and it is why he meant so much to so many.”
Archbishop John Archdiocese of Southwark

Rest in peace, Pope Francis and thank you.
