Learning together in God’s love
At St Agatha’s, we place Jesus Christ at the centre of all we do. Our children are visible disciples of Jesus and they demonstrate how to live out their faith through their words and deeds. We foster our relationship of love with God and other people through daily prayer, acts of worship and celebrations of liturgy.
Collective worship and prayer:
Our school holds prayers and collective worship regularly throughout the week, through communal prayers, assemblies, singing together as well as prayers in class.
Children join and lead collective worship and prayer services. They take part in class and whole school Masses, which happen in St Agatha’s parish church.
Links to St Agatha’s Parish:
Here at St Agatha’s, we are lucky enough to be situated a short walk from our parish church. Our parish priest, Father Francis visits the school, celebrates Masses and is a link with the wider community of the church.
Catholic Life of the School:
The rich Catholic Life of our school enables our children to enjoy, understand and partake in their faith. We follow the Liturgical Year and celebrations are planned in accordance with this. Activities enjoyed by the children include:
- Harvest Appeal
- Stations of the Cross Service
- Reconciliation Service
- RE Ambassadors
- Rosary Group
- Learn about other faiths
These help our children to deepen their Catholic Christian values, develop an understanding and respect for the beliefs of others and live out the Gospel values in their everyday lives.
Curriculum
Across all year groups in our school we follow a scheme entitled ‘The Way, the Truth and the Life’.
Key Stage 1 Through all school activities we aim to deepen children’s faith and help them grow in the love of God. We provide a curriculum which enables them to be innately spiritual and understand the place that God has in their lives. |
Lower Key Stage 2 Children learn about our faith but also learn from our faith and how it relates to them and their lives. |
Upper Key Stage 2 Children listen, discuss, reflect and take part in a range of creative activities such as: role play, singing and art. Through our lessons, we try to enable children to understand scripture and worship. KEY SKILLS: Analyse, deduce, classify, clarify & interpret.
